Yep, those are fried scorpions.

Oh my goodness, I feel like I’ve been there before! I haven’t had fried scorpions (whoa, how were those? :O), but I had roast duck in a restaurant in Beijing that was fairly reputable, supposedly the best roast duck. Is that the place you went to? (Sorry for being so vague, haha.)

I think it’s the same restaurant! Quanjude has the best-roast-duck-in-Beijing rep, and it seems like every Beijinger knows of it.
