Yellow Submarine

Title: Yellow Submarine
Date Completed: May 2007
Medium: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: CG Textures
Comments: Directly inspired by the same Beatles song. Originally, I had planned to make a series of works based on Beatles songs, with this being part 9 of 12. The music on the connecting staff is the tune to the namesake song. Interesting how the love of music can connect us all together.

Norwegian Wood

Title: Norwegian Wood
Date Completed: May 2007
Medium: Mechanical pencil, Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: CG Textures
Comments: Directly inspired by the same Beatles song. Originally, I had planned to make a series of works based on Beatles songs, with this being part 4 of 12. I chose to use darker colors to show the shift in the music from a lighthearted tone to a richer, more complex tone.

Nereid

Title: Nereid
Date Completed: April 2007
Medium: Mechanical pencil, Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: CG Textures
Comments: This was heavily inspired by the Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints; I absolutely love them for the linework and bold colors. I drew the lineart with pencil and colored it in Adobe Photoshop. I chose a block-style shading for most of the piece, with the exception of the water, where I used a looser, more free-flowing crosshatch style of shading.

April Showers

Title: April Showers
Date Completed: April 2007
Medium: ZIG Memory System Millenium 01-03 pen, Adobe Photoshop CS2

Comments: This was part of the Harry Potter Art Exchange community on LiveJournal, where I was matched up with Sherant. I drew the Harry Potter trio (L to R: Harry, Hermione, Ron). I inked this with pen and colored it in Photoshop using a new shading technique. Just in time for spring!

Quay Cur

Title: Quay Cur
Date Completed: April 2007
Medium: Corel Painter IX, Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: CG Textures
Comments: This is based on one of my absolute favourite songs, "Quay Cur" by the Fiery Furnaces. The opening line goes I had a locket, a little silver charm / Given to me so to keep me out of harm / Canvassing the quayside trying to earn my keep / A killick tore it off my neck and threw it in the deep. / And now I'll never, never, never feel like I am safe again. Here we have the wide-eyed little girl who has lost her precious locket, and we wonder what is compromised for the silver charm.

44th Sunset

Title: 44th Sunset
Date Completed: November 2005
Medium: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: Hybrid-Genesis

I love Le Petit Prince, especially the excerpt above. Was the Little Prince sad when he saw the 44th sunset that day?

One Fish Two Fish

Title: One Fish Two Fish
Date Completed: September 2005
Medium: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: Hybrid-Genesis
Comemnts: I created this for a layout at belledame.net that --- sadly to say --- never got installed. The lyrics featured are from "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull.

My Good Song

Title: My Good Song
Date Completed: September 2005
Medium: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Credits: n/a
Comments: Talk about timing: I started this back in March 2005 as an attempt to "remix" a favourite piece of mine, The Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso. Unfortunately, I left the sketches lying around until late August, during Hurricane Katrina. I then picked up where I left off, and this is the end result.
