About

the girl.     the site.     the art.

cindy!

Hello! My name is Cindy, and I was born on the twenty-first day of the year 1989, which makes me an Aquarian in the year of the Dragon. (I’m also Type 4 and an INFP, if you’re into that sort of thing.) I’m more glad than sad or mad, more introverted than extroverted, more of a lover than a hater, and more optimistic than pessimistic. My last name isn’t Pepper, though honestly, how great would life be if that were true?

I grew up in the sleepy Midwest suburbs until my family moved to Shanghai in 2007, and I headed off to NY to study at Columbia, where I majored in Industrial Engineering with two minors in Economics and East Asian Languages & Cultures. I graduated in May 2011, packed my bags, and moved across the country to California. I currently live in San Francisco and work for Search Quality at Google in Mountain View, CA, but I can also be found at home in Shanghai and other places around the globe.

Two of my favorite things include traveling and eating. I’ve been to 30+ countries and 6 continents, and I’d dearly love to add to my list. And I seriously think the NY Times wrote this article just for me, because I’m totally that crazy person who brings her camera to a restaurant and proceeds to take pictures of the food she eats. I love drawing, fashion, mathematics (when it’s not kicking my ass), art history, baking cookies, taking photos, waking up at stupid o’clock to watch football games, playing the piano & viola, and exploring. And blogging, of course! I also like Harry Potter, things that are green, snail mail, Nutella, Bayern Munich, lambic beer, cilantro, Sporcle games, cable cars, Moleskines, museums, rice pudding, weird ice-cream flavors, animated films, German football, tigers, and figs.

If you have time, feel free to drop a line. I promise I don’t bite.
